"I have been a professional fine artist my entire adult life, starting before I even completed my formal education as an artist. I began my career by creating murals and faux finishes for patrons in South Africa. I am proud of how far I have come and hope to achieve many more successes along the way." - Avianne

Contemplative Etherealism

Biography

Avianne is the owner and manager of the Avianne International Gallery of Fine Art as well as a prolific artist in her own right. She moved to the USA in 2006, landed in San Francisco, and currently resides in Meridian, Idaho. Avianne holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from the University of Pretoria in South Africa from which she graduated with several distinctions in both practical and theoretical subjects, and a Masters degree in Education - Curriculum, Instruction, and Innovation from Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho. She is an international award-winning fine artist with varied works in several private and corporate collections. There is hardly any art medium or style she has not mastered. She describes herself as an "Etherealist". She coined her artistic style as "Etherealism", for which she wrote a manifesto in 2015.

Avianne works in graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, oil paint, acrylic paint, resin, watercolor, and more. Her personal philosophy has carried her through decades of artistic mastery and achievement: "I believe a true artist can create art from anything with anything. Like the old and Modern Masters, I do not believe much in limiting myself to only one medium or only one subject. I would find that stifling." - Avianne

Artist's Statement about her series "Reflections in Resin"

A series I am currently working on is called "Reflections in Resin". There is a space between the real and the unreal world. I live and work in that space. I coined "Etherealism" as my style in 2015 because of how diverse and "unpinnable" I am as an artist. Much like Georgia O'Keeffe, I have a deep affinity for showcasing the natural world in a way that prevents the viewer from ignoring its hidden beauty. In the spirit of Frida Kahlo, I paint my own stories because I am so often alone. As a wildlife advocate and empathic observer of the human condition I paint what I feel: stories, impressions, vantage points, emotions. Unlimited by style or medium, I navigate my creative journey with thoughtfulness and sincerity as I have learned over the years to allow myself the freedom of allowing the journey to lead me. I also create multiple representational pieces of flowers, animals, and of a more figurative nature.
